How to Prepare Artwork for Custom Tin Boxes

Artwork preparation is easier when the design team and factory work from the same structural reference. Before a custom tin sample begins, buyers can use the tin box design guide to confirm the dieline, print areas, color direction and any raised or recessed details.

Start with the approved structure

Artwork should be placed on the dieline for the agreed tin size and lid structure. A layout from another size may not match the actual forming edges, seams or visible panels.

  • Confirm the final dimensions and lid type
  • Use the latest factory dieline
  • Keep important text away from forming and seam areas

Prepare production-friendly files

Vector files make logos, lines and small text easier to review. CMYK artwork is normally used for print preparation, while Pantone references can help when a specific brand color needs discussion.

  • AI or editable PDF preferred
  • Vector logo and outlined fonts
  • High-resolution linked images
  • Bleed and safe areas included

Review before sampling

The production review should check panel direction, barcode size, color references, embossing position and any areas affected by the lid or body forming. Record the approved file version before moving to a physical sample.
